Painting & Decorating – Advanced Apprenticeship
NVQ Level 3
Entry Requirements: Level 2 NVQ in Painting & Decorating
A full Construction Apprenticeship requires the completion of a four part Framework. This includes a Level 3 Diploma in Painting and Decorating, a Functional skills Level 2 in Mathematics and English which are completed at college, and a Level 3 NVQ Diploma completed on site.
The fourth element, the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing – Painting and Decorating (Construction) – Decorative finishing qualification is delivered in a working environment; this means you need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop and recognise your skills, knowledge and competence, and requires the completion of an evidence based portfolio.
The Painting and Decorating Diploma (The Technical Certificate) is delivered here at college for one full day a week. The Functional skills Qualifications are also delivered in college.
Being employed, you are required to demonstrate, in a real workplace environment, that you are competent against a set of performance statements.
Evidence is collected in a work based evidence portfolio and is built up usually over a two year period.
The underpinning knowledge, technical certificate and key skills are delivered at college and the NVQ portfolio is developed in the workplace by gathering evidence towards completion of the practical units.
Entry Requirements & Interview Process
There are no formal entry requirements, though it is recommended you complete the Level 2 NVQ.
All applicants are interviewed and assessed for suitability by a training officer.
Applicants are expected to be in relevant employment with the support of an employer who can offer work commensurate with the NVQ completion.
Those without an employer will be given job seeking assistance, but may be enrolled on a full time course until such time as they gain employment.
