“After leaving school, I attended Cleveland Technical College studying Carpentry and Joinery, whilst at the same time completing a 3 year Apprenticeship working for a house building construction firm. In this time, I gained recognition as an Associate Member of the Institute of Carpenters (AIoC). I gained further experience in bench joinery, woodwork machining, civil construction and maintenance joinery before gaining my FE teaching qualifications at Huddersfield University. I joined Calderdale College in 1983 where I have taught for the last 30 years. I have taught both the Bench Joinery and Site Carpentry courses for both full-time students and for the day release apprentices.”
