We are unrelenting in our ambition for students and colleagues and are proud to be known as the best college in West Yorkshire for achievement of students of all ages.
We strive to create a culture of excellence which recognises the skills, talents and commitment of everyone within our college community. We invest in our people and what we offer to ensure we are able to meet the challenging needs of our local economy and to create a resilient, sustainable college that meets the needs of the communities we serve.
So, we are innovative in our approach and provide a unique learning experience for students where they have the opportunity to work on live briefs from real businesses as part of their course, ensuring they are employment-ready before they move onto their next steps.
Support is in our DNA and we are dedicated to adapting our learning environment to ensure our college is safe, welcoming and inclusive to all.
We truly are ‘Calderdale’s College.’ Our college has been a key feature of our local district for 130 years and we have big plans for the future.

At Calderdale College, our commitment to sustainability goes beyond a mere statement of intent.
We understand that our planet is facing unprecedented environmental challenges that require urgent action, and we are determined to play our part in securing a more sustainable future.
To achieve this, we have set ambitious pledges to become net zero by 2035 with an aspiration to achieve this by 2030, through the adoption of innovative and sustainable technologies.
We are investing in making our building more energy efficient and using solar energy and heat source pumps, as well as providing electric charging points for students, staff and the public.

Our Francis Street campus is the largest and underwent a £7.5m transformation to improve energy efficiency as we strive towards zero carbon.
Spread across multiple floors in two large buildings, we offer a range of courses from this central Halifax base. From Animal Care and Digital to Sport and Childcare, our bespoke classrooms give students the chance to learn in an industry-standard environment. Working at this campus, you will benefit from a range of eateries and cafes which serve a variety of breakfast and lunchtime treats. Plus, we even serve Starbucks drinks!
Our specialist Brighouse Engineering Centre has been designed to enable businesses and students to thrive! This campus boasts a range of fantastic facilities, including a garage workshop, custom-built welding and fabrication area, electrical workshop with individual bays and an open space dedicated to milling and turning. This site also benefits from an Industry 4.0 Hub funded by the Brighouse Town Deal. This space puts high-tech manufacturing at the heart of the town’s future, showcasing augmented reality, advanced manufacturing and robotics.
In 2023, we launched a brand new bespoke Automotive Centre, based at The Printworks on Lightowler Road in Halifax, which gives students the chance to learn a wide range of skills, such as body work, paint and accident repair, as well as the fundamentals of servicing and maintenance, by working on real vehicles and engines.
Based at D Mill, Mill Studios is a state-of-the-art gaming and media hub offering cutting-edge resources for film, TV and gaming studies. Focused on Esports, Games Design and TV production, students gain hands-on experience through advanced technology, hear the latest industry insights and learn career-ready skills. The space is designed to prepare learners for roles in creative industries through innovation.
Our Creative Arts students studying a degree qualification also benefit from being based in the thriving, Grade II listed Victorian mills at Dean Clough. This space in E Mill provides a wonderfully diverse mix of people and businesses, and our students are lucky enough to have their artwork displayed in the renowned Crossley Gallery.
