Caps off to our University Centre Class of 2025!
Staff, students, apprentices, and their loved ones came together on 27 September at the historic Halifax Minster to celebrate the Class of 2025 at Calderdale College’s University Centre Graduation.
The annual ceremony was filled with pride and excitement as graduates marked the completion of their Higher Education journeys. Students and apprentices received qualifications from the School of Creative Arts, School of Business, Leadership & Management, School of Health & Science, School of Education & Lifelong Learning, as well as higher and degree apprenticeships.
The event was a fitting celebration of hard work, dedication and achievement, with family and friends joining in the special occasion.
In addition to receiving their degree, students that had shown exceptional performance during their time at the College were awarded with special prizes, including:
Inspirational Higher Apprentice – Muhammad Ali
Inspirational Student – Hayley Innes
Outstanding Higher Apprentice – Julia Hallowell
Outstanding Student – Cohan Mortimer
David Malone, Principal and Chief Executive at Calderdale College, said: “Graduation is a special moment in the academic calendar. It’s a chance to celebrate the hard work, determination and success of our students in the magnificent setting of Halifax Minster.
“Our University Centre enables students to study locally while saving money, which is a real benefit for our community at a time when many are concerned about rising costs and future employment.
“This institution gives students from every background the opportunity to thrive, and I was delighted at the ceremony to see how we can empower them to go further.”
Yalana Lewis, graduate of our Community, Public Health and Social Care Foundation Degree, said: “I currently work for the NHS as a Healthcare Facilitator and now that I have graduated, I am looking to progress within the healthcare sector with a degree and transferable skills now under my belt!”
Gabby Hunkin, graduate of our Early Years Foundation Degree added: “I’ve enjoyed my course so much I’m staying on at the University Centre to complete the Early Years BA Top Up.
“I really benefitted from the smaller classroom sizes as I had that 1-1 support from my tutors who helped me throughout my studies. I am from Bradford and having these opportunities on my doorstep has made studying a degree all the more accessible to me.”
