This Foundation Degree in Counselling & Applied Psychology forms the first two years of our full three-year degree programme, combining academic study with practical experience to prepare you for careers in helping professions. You’ll develop a strong grounding in counselling theory, psychological principles, ethics and professional practice, alongside hands-on skills through workshops and real-world learning.
After a shared first year, you’ll specialise in one of two pathways. The Counselling pathway prepares you for placement experience and progression towards professional registration with organisations such as British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or British Psychological Society (BPS).
Placement opportunities are supported through the College’s extensive local network of services. The Psychology pathway offers a broader focus, supporting careers in areas such as criminal justice, forensic psychology, education and mental health. Successful completion allows progression to the final year to achieve a full BSc (Hons) Level 6, top-up degree.
