Working with animals is becoming an increasingly popular career option. It is a rewarding profession that involves the care, welfare, handling, health, behaviour and accommodation of a variety of animals.
Many people begin working with animals from a young age, with an instinctive desire to care for a range of species, not just domestic pets. Job opportunities include dog handling, wildlife rangers, vets and zoologist with several more career options within the military.
Students gain hands on experience within the animal care unit at College. This is ideal for you if you are interested in working with animals. You will gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience at a variety of sites.
You will be expected to use and develop knowledge and skills with the animals. This is a full time one year course.
Aspects of the course will include:
Students will be offered to study an Applied Science qualification. This is a requirement for progression onto T Level Animal Care if you do not already have a Level 2 science qualification. You may also need this qualification to progress onto T Level Health.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process
4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above i(preferably in English, Maths or Science). Industry experience will also be taken into account when considering applications from non-traditional entrants.
If your application is successful you will have an interview with a specialist tutor.
Progression
A merit or above allows for progression to Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Animal Management, or National Foundation Diploma in Animal Management.
After completing this course, job opportunities will include dog handling, wildlife rangers, vets and zoologist with several more career options within the military.
Assessment Methods
Throughout the course you will be assessed through written assignments, presentations, posters and practical competency assessments.
