The course is an equal mixture of theory and practical experience, the learners are required to complete a mandatory 750 hours in a Early Years or Primary School. The course is exam based.

During the course, you will work through 12 elements during your first year, followed by 4 performance outcomes in your second year.
Throughout the 2 years, you will be expected to complete 750 mandatory placement hours within an Early Years or Primary setting.
You’ll spend 50% of the course completing 750 placement hours over 2 years, and 50% of the time in the classroom, taught through various means such as research groups and peer work presentations. Placements during second year will involve structured observations and professional discussions.
This course is free for students age 16 – 18.
During your first year, you will be assessed through an employer set project and two core exam papers.
In your second year, you will be assessed through three structured observations undertaken in your work placement by an assessor, and three exam papers.
After successfully completing the course, students may progress onto Higher Education, higher apprenticeships or employment.
