Based on Francis Street, Halifax, we are the largest providers of post-16 further education and work-based learning in the region, and the sole provider of higher-level qualifications locally. We support thousands of learners each year, equipping them with the skills, confidence and real-world experience needed to progress into employment, apprenticeships or further study.

We also deliver specialist training at our Engineering Centre in Brighouse and Mill Studios at Dean Clough, enabling students to learn in sector-leading environments designed around industry standards.

Main Campus - Halifax

Our main Calderdale College campus in Halifax offers a diverse and ambitious range of courses designed to meet the needs of our community and local industries. Students can choose from specialist pathways including Animal Care, Construction Trades, Criminology, Public Services, Computing, Health & Social Care, and a wide range of professional and creative subjects. 

Teaching is supported by a range of industry-standard facilities, including recording studios, a fully equipped professional cookery kitchen, a mock ward and occupational therapy suite, a purpose-built dog grooming salon and expansive construction and trade workshops that replicate real working environments.

Our campus is also home to a number of thriving Sport Academies, giving students the opportunity to train competitively alongside their students with support from experienced coaches. Our partners include Calderdale Cubs, FC Halifax Town & Halifax FC Women, Halifax Panthers and Yorkshire Dragons.

Alongside this, our University Centre offers a range of higher-level qualifications, enabling learners to progress into degree-level study right here on campus.

Our Specialist Campuses

The Engineering Centre – Brighouse

Our specialist Engineering Centre has been designed to enable businesses and students to thrive. This campus boasts a range of fantastic facilities, including:

  • A garage workshop
  • Custom-built welding and fabrication area
  • Electrical workshop with individual bays
  • A dedicated open space for milling and turning

The site also benefits from an Industry 4.0 Hub, funded by the Brighouse Town Deal. This innovative space places high-tech manufacturing at the forefront of the town’s future, showcasing augmented reality, advanced manufacturing and robotics. Students and employers benefit from an environment that reflects the modern engineering sector.

Mill Studios & Dean Clough – Halifax

Based in D Mill, Mill Studios is a state-of-the-art gaming and media hub offering cutting-edge facilities for Esports, Games Design and TV & Film Production. Students gain hands-on experience using industry-standard technology, learn from professionals and build career-ready creative and digital skills. The space is designed to prepare learners for modern creative industries through innovation and practical experience. 

In E Mill, our degree-level Creative Arts students benefit from being based in the thriving, Grade II-listed Victorian mills at Dean Clough. This vibrant setting provides access to a diverse mix of businesses and creative professionals. Students have opportunities to display their work in renowned spaces such as the Crossley Gallery, further enhancing their professional portfolios.
