Bradley Brunning - TradeHub

Calderdale College TradeHub student, Bradley Brunning excelled through his course by receiving the support, advice and experience he needed to decide which trade was for him.

The newly designed TradeHub course has been crafted by Calderdale College to give students a taster into the trades. The 36-week-long course is taught by industry experienced tutors and is perfect for those wanting an introduction to construction, to gain skills and decide which trade-path to pursue a career in.

Bradley was tried and tested throughout his time on the course, always being pushed to master new skills and gain confidence in his abilities. His tutor, Steve Mitchell, said: “Brad soon realised that to be a success in any trade you can’t give up. He showed many good qualities and was confident enough to ask for advice and help.

The TradeHub programme is very practical and designed to build and strengthen students’ skillsets. Bradley was a very precise student, which helped him across the trades as he was able to measure areas of walls for decorating, mark out floors for brickwork models and create working and accurate models in joinery.”

Since completing his course, Bradley has moved onto the Brickwork course after showing promise in this area and a lot of enjoyment. Bradley commented: “I’m really happy I started on the TradeHub programme, it gave me confidence and the experience I needed to decide what I wanted to be. I’m hopeful that next year I will find an apprenticeship and carry on studying at College.”
