Students organise charity football tournament to collect donations for Ukraine

Level 2 Electrical students organised a staff and students charity football tournament to help collect donations for the Ukrainian Relief Project, a charity based at Dean Clough that sends food and other unperishable goods to the country.

The group of students, supported by their tutor Juleigh, were joined by 16 five-a-side football teams who competed late into the afternoon.

The competition was one of the social action projects organised by the Electrical students where they aim to give back to the local community through a range of charitable acts as part of their course.

Battling against wind and rain in the unseasonably cold conditions, the Brickwork student team were crowned winners on the day after beating off stiff competition from other students and two staff teams!

Tutor Juleigh, said: “It was great to see so much support for the students.

“We had a fantastic turnouit and have collected lots of items that we can send down to Dean Clough. Thank you to each of the teams for all the support we received from our fantastic staff.”
