North Halifax Skills Centre and Calderdale College participated in the Yorkshire region Guild of Bricklayers annual competition held at York College.
Students battled it out to compete for three worthy titles; ‘New to Competitions’, ‘Junior’ and ‘Senior’. College students worked hard to secure their places in this year’s competition and we therefore had students placed in all three categories!
Asim Ghafoor, Level 1 Brickwork student came third in the ‘New to Competitions’ category. Thomas Wilson, Level 2 Brickwork student came second in the ‘Junior’ category and Toby Croft Level 3 Brickwork student at NHSC came second in the ‘Senior’ competition.
Joe Lumb, Brickwork Lecturer said: "This is a great achievement for Calderdale College, our students and the Brickwork Department as we compete against Colleges which are much larger than ourselves and many of them are Centres of Excellence, (C.O.V.E). I would like to thank all of our students who took part and represented the College and express our gratitude to Hayden White who achieved fourth place in the ‘New to Competitions’ category missing out by only three points, Nick Lee who participated in the ‘Junior’ competition and Mikolaj Okra who participated in the ‘New to Competitions’ category."
