Course Overview

This practical, beginner-level course is designed to help you confidently get started with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the workplace. If you’ve heard about AI but aren’t sure where to begin, or have tried using it without seeing real benefits, this session will give you the clarity and confidence you need.

In just three hours, you will learn how AI tools can support everyday tasks such as writing documents, creating content, and improving communication. The course focuses on simple, practical techniques that you can apply immediately in your role, without the need for any technical knowledge.

You will also explore how to use AI safely and responsibly, including understanding data privacy, choosing the right tools, and avoiding common mistakes. By the end of the session, you will feel more confident using AI and be able to apply it effectively to save time, improve quality of work, and support your day-to-day tasks.

This course is ideal for:

  • Complete beginners with little or no experience of AI
  • Individuals who want a simple, practical introduction to AI tools
  • Business owners and managers exploring AI for the first time

No prior knowledge or technical experience is required.

Session 1: Ethical Use of AI – Understanding Risks, Responsibilities and Model Choices

This session explores the key principles of using AI responsibly, with clear guidance on privacy, transparency and safeguarding sensitive information. We will compare free and paid AI models, outlining how they differ in capability, data handling, security and reliability. Attendees will gain practical insight into making informed, ethical decisions when choosing and using AI tools in professional settings.

Session 2: AI for Marketing – Creating Strong Images and Effective Content

This session focuses on using AI to produce exciting images and presentations and content. We will look at how to structure prompts so AI tools understand your intent, along with practical tips for generating consistent and appropriate visuals. Attendees will learn how to guide AI clearly, avoid common pitfalls and refine outputs to support generating promotional materials more effectively.

Session 3: Prompt Engineering – How You Need to Communicate with AI for Clear and Effective Writing

Writing reports and summarising documents are all within reach with AI. It is simply around knowing how to prompt engineer. We will cover practical prompt engineering techniques, how to keep AI focused and how to avoid vague or overly long responses. The session will also show how AI can act as a critical friend: reviewing, editing and stress testing your writing to improve clarity, accuracy and impact.

This course is open to all businesses and individuals.

Participants should:

  • Have basic digital skills
  • Be comfortable using Microsoft Teams
