Course Overview

This course gives learners a full recognised qualification in dog grooming and salon management. This course will ensure that you are a fully qualified dog groomer.

Units covered in this qualification include:

  • Health and Safety in a Dog Grooming Environment
  • Promote the Welfare of Dogs conforming with relevant legislation
  • Customer Care and Managing Complaints
  • Assess and Plan Dog Grooming Styles and Maintenance of Equipment
  • Health Checking, Handling and Canine Behaviour
  • Prepare, Style and Finish a range of Dog Breeds
  • Canine Emergency First Aid
  • Planning the Operation of a Small Canine Business

This course is for both 16-18s and 19+ students.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include maths or English (or both). A Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care at Merit or above. References may be requested and a research question may be completed at enrolment.

Applicants without the stated entry requirements may still have their application considered. These will be evaluated on individual merit and interviewing staff may introduce an assessment into the interview process to assess applicants’ current level of ability in relation to the course applied for. Course Fees

This course is free for students aged 16 – 18.
