Entry Requirements:
5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or above to include English, Math's, and Science, or a pass in a relevant Level 2 Qualification

Course Info

During this 2-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of design and development occupations for engineering and manufacturing.

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in design and development for engineering and manufacturing and is based at our Engineering Centre in Brighouse.

Throughout the course you will learn essential engineering and manufacturing knowledge, including:

Mathematics used in problem solving
Understanding materials and their application
Mechanical principals and essential science
Project management
Computer Aided Design for 3D modelling and 2D engineering drawings
Manufacturing processes, techniques and quality awareness

Teaching

Project based learning is used as the model for teaching, learning and assessment. You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom or workshop and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for.

Assessment Methods

Year 1: 2 x written exam papers and 1 x Employer Set Project (all externally set and marked).

Year 2: 1 x specialist design and make project (externally set and moderated, internally marked).
