Course Overview

This non-accredited CPD course provides a practical introduction to estimating and quantity surveying within construction. Delegates will gain an understanding of how construction projects
are measured, costed and procured, as well as the key role of the quantity surveyor in supporting financial control.

This course is aimed at new entrants to construction, trainees, junior technicians and employees who are moving into estimating or quantity surveying responsibilities.

Throughout this course, you will learn about:

  • Introduction to construction technology, building components and materials
  • Reading and interpreting basic construction drawings
  • Introduction to measurement and quantity take-offs
  • Understanding Bills of Quantities
  • Introduction to cost planning and types of estimates
  • Basic procurement routes and tendering
  • Introduction to JCT and NEC contract principles
  • Professional practice, ethics and risk awareness

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

No formal qualification or previous quantity surveying experience is required. A basic interest in construction is beneficial.

Course Fees

This course is £85 per delegate.

  • Intermediate & Advanced: £400 per person, saving £45
