Course Overview

This non-accredited CPD course develops practical estimating and quantity surveying skills for construction projects. Delegates will learn how to interpret drawings, undertake measurement and quantity take-offs, prepare Bills of Quantities, develop estimates and support tendering and financial control.

This course is aimed at construction and built-environment staff with some existing industry knowledge who want to develop their estimating and quantity surveying skills. It is suitable for assistant quantity surveyors, technicians, supervisors and employees supporting cost management or tendering activity.

Throughout this course, you will learn about:

  • Understanding construction drawings, building elements, materials and methods
  • Measurement and quantity take-offs using NRM2 principles
  • Preparing Bills of Quantities
  • Cost planning and types of estimates, including order-of-cost and detailed estimates
  • Rate build-ups, pricing strategies and tender documentation
  • Tender analysis, bid evaluation and procurement routes
  • Introduction to JCT and NEC contracts, variations and interim valuations
  • Cost control, cash-flow forecasting, risk management and practical case studies

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

No formal qualification is required. A basic understanding of construction projects and terminology is beneficial.

Course Fees

This course is £165 per delegate.
