City & Guilds Level 1 Certificate in Fabrication & Welding

This Level 1 Certificate in Fabrication & Welding is a foundation course for learners wanting a practical, hands on learning experience that will lead to a nationally recognised qualification. It is a great place to start for anyone wanting to pursue a career in this Engineering sector.

You will learn the fundamentals of fabrication and welding through completing a variety of practical assessments. You will develop your ability to work with hand tools, powered tools as well as a range of sheet metal working, welding skills and fabrication equipment.

There are additional opportunities to develop skills that can support careers in fabrication and welding.

The bulk of this qualification is delivered in the workshop environment.

In addition to learning the practical aspects of fabrication and welding and how to use the equipment, you will be taught how to work safely and efficiently.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

Applicants will be invited to an interview with a tutor, followed by attendance to a taster session. All equipment will be provided other than steel toe cap boots. Potential financial assistance is available for equipment.

Level 2 and 3 in Fabrication and Welding.

Assessment Methods

Students will be assessed through practical assessments and a portfolio. Units include MIG welding, sheet metal working and 1 health and safety unit which consists of an online multiple choice exam.
