Course Overview

This unique and inclusive one-year Animal Care programme is designed specifically for learners aged 14–16 who have been homeschooled for at least one year prior to starting the course.

Delivered by our experienced and supportive Animal Care team, the course provides a practical and hands-on introduction to the animal care industry, helping learners gain confidence, skills, and recognised qualifications in a nurturing college environment.

Students will gain real-world knowledge and experience in caring for a wide range of animals. The course includes both classroom-based learning and practical sessions in our on-site animal care facilities. Topics cover animal health, welfare, accommodation, nutrition, and professional grooming skills.

All learners will study GCSE English alongside this course.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

No previous qualifications required, however, applicants are asked to bring in a portfolio of work in Maths and English at the initial meeting and be expected to be working at a minimum of high Entry 3 or Level 1 in English before starting the course. This will be measured at the initial assessment in the Admissions process.
