Course Overview

The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children and Young People’s Mental Health is a 6-month qualification that looks into mental health context, concerns, impacts and strategies in and around society. Students develop and apply their knowledge through interactive learning and industry reflective assessments and have opportunity to access work related activity, work experience and to engage with employers in readiness for their next steps.

Students develop an understanding of what job roles are in and around mental health through industry placement visits and discussions. This supports students’ knowledge of where, how and who they can support from achieving their level 2 qualification.

During this course, you will learn:

  • Understand children and young people’s mental health in context
  • Understand factors which may affect children and young people’s mental health
  • Understand children and young people’s mental health concerns
  • Understand the impact of children and young people’s mental health concerns
  • Understand how to support children and young people with mental health concerns

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

The learners must have 3 GCSEs, with at least 3’s in English and Mathematics.

Applicants without the stated entry requirements may still have their application considered. These will be evaluated on individual merit and interviewing staff may introduce an assessment into the interview process to assess applicants’ current level of ability in relation to the course applied for. Progression

This course is a short course and therefore learners will progress onto the Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities.
