Course Overview

This qualification provides learners with an understanding of the sports sector to either start a career in sport, leisure or fitness, or to progress within employment in the sector. It may also be applicable for those in an entry level role who would like to further their understanding and progress to the next level of employment or learning.

The course aims to support learners to enter employment, progress into higher or further education (including NCFE Level 3 Sport qualifications), and develop the essential skills, knowledge and understanding valued by employers and education providers. To achieve the qualification, learners must successfully complete three mandatory units and one optional unit.

All learners will study GCSE Maths alongside this course.

  • Participating in Sport
  • Sports Coaching
  • Developing Sporting Skills and Tactical Awareness
  • Plus 1 other optional unit TBC

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

No previous qualifications required, however, applicants are asked to bring in a portfolio of work in Maths and English at the initial meeting and be expected to be working at a minimum of high Entry 3 or Level 1 in Maths before starting the course. This will be measured at the initial assessment in the Admissions process.
