NVQ Barbering – Level 2 (Part-time)
This course is ideal if you are interested in all aspects of men’s hairdressing. The qualification is highly practical and provides the skills and underpinning knowledge to practice as a barber.
Entry Requirements: 4 GCSEs at grade D/grade 3 or above to include Maths and English or equivalent
This course will be of interest to people with men’s hairdressing skills or those new to the industry. You will learn new skills that will enable you to work as a Barber in this ever increasing industry.
The units are selected on the basis of relevance to the industry and the employability value and include:
- Cut Hair Using Basic Barbering Techniques – including neck line and outline shapes
- Cut Facial Hair to Shape Using Basic Techniques – tapered beard line, outlined beard and moustache shapes
- Dry and Finish Man’s Hair – various styling techniques and finishing looks using a wide range of products
- Create Basic Patterns in Hair – create patterns in the hair including curved lines to cover 25% of the head
A variety of teaching methods will be used including an amount of self-directed study.
Subject specialist tutors with industry experience and demonstrations from outside experts.
Entry Requirements & Interview Process
Students aged 16-18 must possess 4 GCSEs at grade D or grade 3 or above to include Maths and English or equivalent.
All will be interviewed and will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and good communication skills.
