Explore Halifax’s hidden gems

The Piece Hall

Whilst studying at Calderdale College, we encourage you to discover the fantastic local area right on your doorstep. Here’s a round-up of things you can find, clubs you can support and places to visit in our community.

People’s Park
Located just behind the main college campus on Francis Street, People’s Park is a historical landmark and a great place to enjoy lunch, a walk or just to get some fresh air.

ChaChaChai, Queens Road
Have you tr-tr-tried the most instagram-able cafe within walking distance of the College? ChaChaChai offers sweet treats, coffee, milkshakes and a mixture of savoury street food!

Halifax Gibbet
Just through People’s Park, a replica gibbet dating back to the 16th Century is placed on Gibbet Street. What’s a gibbet? It’s an early version of a guillotine used as an alternative method for beheading, and it can still be viewed today!

The Shay Stadium
Home of the Shaymen and Panthers, this sports stadium has fun fixtures running across the year.
