Sully's journey from a quiet to confident Joinery apprentice!
Sully joined Bespoke Joinery Manufacturing Ltd in Bradford as a quiet, respectful apprentice while studying for his Level 2 Bench Joinery qualification at Calderdale College. At first, he found it challenging to follow and deliver some of the more complex instructions required for bench joinery. However, it quickly became clear that with the right support and plenty of practice, he had the potential to excel.
His practical exam involved completing four tasks, each requiring different skills and tools. Initially, the complexity felt overwhelming, but after being given the opportunity to practice each task multiple times, Sully began consistently producing high-quality work that often exceeded the standard of some of his peers. His employer at Bespoke Joinery Manufacturing Ltd was always positive, regularly praising his progress and dedication.
With tailored support from the College, including additional practice sessions leading up to the exam, Sully was able to approach the assessment with confidence. On the day of the exam, he received support and extra time, enabling him to demonstrate his true ability. He successfully completed all tasks, impressing the assessor with the quality of his work and has now passed his apprenticeship after an additional year of practical preparation and on his third attempt at the exam.
Sully’s tutors are incredibly proud of him and delighted that he is working with an employer who recognises and values his skills. His journey highlights the importance of matching the right training approaches with individual strengths, ensuring apprentices can achieve their full potential.
Congratulations, Sully, on your success!
