T Level – Engineering and Manufacturing – Brighouse

Entry Requirements:
5 GCSE passes (grade 4 or above), including English, Maths, and Science, or a pass in a relevant Level 2 Qualification.

Course Info

During this 2-year programme, students will develop the core knowledge and skills that are needed for entry to a range of design and development occupations for engineering and manufacturing.

 

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in design and development for engineering and manufacturing and is based at our Engineering Centre in Brighouse.

 

Throughout the course you will learn essential engineering and manufacturing knowledge, including:

 

  • Mathematics used in problem solving
  • Understanding materials and their application
  • Mechanical principals and essential science
  • Project management
  • Computer Aided Design for 3D modelling and 2D engineering drawings
  • Manufacturing processes, techniques and quality awareness

Teaching

Project based learning is used as the model for teaching, learning and assessment. You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom or workshop and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for.

Assessment Methods

Year 1: 2 x written exam papers and 1 x Employer Set Project (all externally set and marked).

Year 2: 1 x specialist design and make project (externally set and moderated, internally marked).
