Care Leavers
We will support care leavers
in all aspects of college life
Care Leavers
One of our dedicated Student Advisers can meet with you before the academic year to discuss any concerns or worries that you may have and answer any questions. You will also be able to access ongoing support throughout your studies from dedicated Progress Coaches and our Learner Services team.
Student Advisers can work with any other support workers you have outside of college to help you throughout your college experience.
If you would like to know more to know please get in touch with our Advice and Guidance team by emailing adviceguidance@calderdale.ac.uk or calling 01422 399 367.

Care Leavers Covenant
Calderdale College recognises the challenges that young people face when they leave the care system and begin to live independently. We support the key principles of the Care Leaver’s covenant that all parts of society have a responsibility to help care leavers so that they can make a successful transition to adulthood.
The Learner Services department has good links with external agencies such as Housing and they can provide advice and guidance if needed.
University Centre
The University Centre at Calderdale College is committed to supporting those from a care background who wish to enter Higher Education. Please get in touch with our contact for care leavers, Kirsty Sanderson (kirsty.sanderson@calderdale.ac.uk), for more information about the application process.
We are also a partner of Go higher West Yorkshire. Please use the link below for more information:
