Course Overview

he Pre Supported Internship course is designed for students aged 16-24 who have an Education, Health, and Care plan. The course aims to provide a foundation for students with limited work experience, focusing on essential skills development, including mathematics and English. 

Our program focuses on three primary objectives: developing essential employment skills, providing practical workplace experience, and preparing students for Supported Internships or other career pathways. By honing their skills, offering hands-on experience, and equipping them for future opportunities, we strive to empower students for success in their chosen careers. The Pre Supported Internship course will cover a range of subjects and skills to prepare students for the workplace.  

  1. Employability Skills: Developing skills valued by employers, such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and time management. 
  1. Work Readiness: Understanding workplace expectations, professional behaviour, and workplace ethics. 
  1. Personal Development: Building confidence, self-awareness, resilience, and self-advocacy skills. 
  1. Vocational Exploration: Exploring different industries, job sectors, and potential career pathways through immersive visits and guest speakers. 
  1. Practical Experience: Providing opportunities for work placements or short-term placements with local partner organisations to gain hands-on experience and apply learned skills in a real-world setting. 
  1. Functional maths and English: Develop core skills in math and English to boost your confidence and employability. Gain practical knowledge that is highly valued in the workplace, setting the foundation for a successful career.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

The course is open to students aged 16-24 who have an Education, Health, and Care plan. While formal work experience is not a requirement, a willingness to learn and develop essential skills is expected. 

Progression

Upon completing the Pre Supported Internship course, students may have various progression opportunities, including: 

Supported Internship: Progressing to a Supported Internship program to further develop practical work skills and gain extended work experience. 

Further Education: Continuing education at college or pursuing vocational courses related to their career interests. 

Employment: Transitioning directly into employment with the skills acquired during the course, with potential support from job coaches or employment services.
