Course Overview

This qualification allows you to study all aspects of the electro-technical industry and greatly improves your prospects of securing employment within the sector.

This course provides the industry accepted foundation of technical competence and in conjunction with employment and enrol upon the part-time NVQ course and work towards fully qualified electrician status. Achievement of this qualification shortens your apprenticeship by a year, so you will become qualified quicker and can start earning a full electrician’s wage.

Taking this course will greatly improve your prospects for employment within the industry.

Students  move to this course via a progression test at the end of their L1 course.

If you want to become a fully-qualified electrician working on industrial, commercial and domestic installations, then taking this course is a simple and effective first step.

These are the subject areas you will study:

Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations:

  • Health & Safety
  • Principles of electrical science
  • Electrical installations technology
  • Installation of wiring systems & enclosures
  • How to communicate with others within the building trade

Students will also need to retake English and maths if they have not already achieved a grade 4 or above in their GCSE.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

Students need to have successfully competed their Level 1 course in Electrical Installation

Progression

You will be able to progress onto High Level Apprenticeships or other Level 3 courses to further your knowledge.

Further to this you may wish to look at management courses in the building, construction and engineering industries.

Assignments and written & practical exams.
