This Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship is for apprentices that are employed in an industry where buildings and premises require ongoing repair, maintenance and upkeep.
This apprenticeship is suitable for caretakers, janitors or anyone who is responsible for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of buildings.
Typically, this includes public buildings, schools , colleges and residential housing.
Successful candidates will be competent to recognise, report, plan and carry out repairs to a range of building materials and will include skills such as:
Apprentices will need to achieve a Level 1 functional skills Maths and English while on the course (unless already qualified with GCSE grade D).

Entry Requirements & Interview Process
Candidates must be employed in a Property Maintenance role and must have an allocated mentor/supervisor to support their learning in the workplace.
Ideally, candidates will have achieved GCSE grade 3 (previously grade D) in maths and English. Applicants that do not have these grades will attend functional skills classes and must achieve Level 1 in maths and English during the apprenticeship.
The Property Maintenance Operative apprenticeship is a Level 2 qualification.
Before enrolling, all candidates will be asked to attend an interview and a skills match with their employer and a Training Officer to ensure that the correct type and range of work is available to the apprentice to meet the course requirements.
Assessment Methods
Assessment is through multi-choice exams, short answer question papers, design assignments and practical assessment directly observed by an independent assessor.
A portfolio of evidence from the workplace must be completed by the apprentice and authenticated by the employer before final assessment and a qualification can be awarded.
Course Fees
Apprentices that enrol before the age of 19 are free and there is no cost to the employer. A £1000 incentive payment is available to employers to support the cost of employing an apprentice.
Apprentices that are 19 years old or over when they enrol incur an employer contribution of £900. There is no incentive payment available to employers for an apprentice that is 19 years old or over.
Levy paying employers cover the cost of training from their levy pot.
