Course Overview

Plumbers are always in demand, so there’s reliable, rewarding and well-paid work if you have the right plumbing qualifications.

This qualification prepares you for employment in the Plumbing industry and shows employers that you have the fundamental skills to stay safe and contribute whilst you gain experience on site.

The Plumbing City and Guilds Level 1 course will need you to complete specific units and topics. You will work towards the following units to make up the full qualification:

  • Construction industry
  • Health and safety
  • Environmental
  • Site preparation techniques
  • Above ground drainage
  • Copper pipe work
  • Plastic pressure pipe
  • Low carbon steel
  • Installation repair and maintenance
  • Plumbing science

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

Applicants will be invited to an interview with a tutor, followed by attendance to a taster session.

Progression

This course is the first step towards a successful career as a Plumber or those that which to become involved in the renewable and sustainable technologies sector.

It can also be used by learners with more academic aspirations as the first qualification towards progressing to higher education at Calderdale College to study HNC/HND.

Students can progress onto the Level 2 qualification in Plumbing and Heating.

The course is assessed through practical observations and external assessments.
