The Essential Digital Skills course is designed for people who have limited skills in computers and devices. You will learn how to stay safe on the internet and build your confidence in using digital devices.
You will also learn how to use programmes like Microsoft Office, and how to use technology to communicate.
This course is for those working at Entry 3 or Level 1. There is one 3-hour class per week and you will be expected to complete a homework task that should take you around 1 hour. Computers are available when you are in college to complete your work.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process
You should be studying at English at Entry 3 or higher so that you understand the language used during the course. You should have some understanding of how to use a computer and mobile device.
You will be invited for an interview with the tutor to make sure this is the right course for you. You will do a pre-entry assessment so the tutor can understand what level you are working at.
Progression
If you successfully complete the Entry 3 qualification, you can enroll onto the Level 1 course. You may be able to do a higher level IT course within the college.
This qualification may also help with finding employment. This will be discussed with the Adult Progression Officer.
Assessment Methods
The qualification is assessed through one online exam where you will be expected to work independently. There is a question paper and an observed activity.
You will use the same computers that you practiced with during class.
