Briony Jackson-Owens studied BA (Hons) Business, Leadership and Management (top-up) at University Centre Calderdale College, here she tells us about her experiences.
Studying at University Centre Calderdale College
Briony says “This course has helped me develop a practical understanding of Business. We covered a number of modules, from Human Resources to Accounting, and it helped me develop a wide range of skills to help kick-start my career in business.
“I decided to study the course due to my previous job. The job I had involved a lot of business-based tasks and it furthered my desire to study the subject. Rather than just doing these tasks without knowing the reason behind them, I wanted to learn more about businesses work and how I could progress in my career.”
More support
“One of the main benefits I found about the course is the class sizes. I was never very academic and felt lost in larger classes at school. During my time at University Centre Calderdale College tutors gave me the time for one to ones and offered more support than they would in a larger class.”
A very proud moment
“I would recommend the college to others, not only is it a lot cheaper, but the experience was more enjoyable. For someone who has home commitments and needed to work alongside studying, the tutors and College couldn’t have been more supportive and flexible.
“My favourite moment at Calderdale College was my graduation for my Business, Leadership & Management Foundation Degree. It was small, personal and all of my family, course friends and leaders attended. For someone who thought they had missed their opportunity to go to university, it was a very proud moment.”
Future plans
“My plan for the future is to find employment or a post-grad scheme that will allow me to carry on studying and working within the business environment.
“University Centre Calderdale College helped me decide on my future through career talks and providing me with all the necessary information I need to make the best decision for me.”
