Callum Rose – Level 1 Motor Vehicle Maintenance

Callum Rose began at Calderdale College in 2018 and completed his Level 1 Motor Vehicle Maintenance course in record time.

Impressing his course tutor James Leek from day one, who said: “Callum was a pleasure to work with, he showed excellent effort in his work and completed the course to a very high standard and never missed a deadline.” Adding: “If all students were like Callum my job would be so easy.”

After completing the Level 1 course at Calderdale College, Callum was successful in getting a place at Kirkdale Industrial Training Services (KITS) to further his skills and qualifications. KITS and Calderdale College work in partnership to deliver outstanding Engineering Apprenticeship Programmes to a cohort of over 100 students.

Since his move to KITS, Callum has gained an apprenticeship with Murts Motor Centre in Hebden Bridge, a well-established and reputable business where Callum continues to develop his motor skills.

Callum said: “I really enjoyed my time at Calderdale College, I found everyone friendly and fun to work with, and overall it gave me the skills and confidence to get into the career I want.”

Trade Academy at Calderdale College

Calderdale College is the largest provider of further education and apprenticeships in Calderdale, as well as the sole provider of higher education. Its state of the art facilities include the new Trade Academy, designed to give students the best possible experience and gain the skills they need to join a well-paid, exciting and rewarding career in construction.

The Trade Academy’s wide range of employer-responsive courses offer students a wealth of career pathways and are all taught by college tutors that have years of trade experience and industry skills. Many of the Trade Academy courses guarantee a work placement with an employers including; British Craft Trade, City & Guilds and Yorkshire Timber.

Calderdale College and KITS Partnership

 Calderdale College and KITS established their partnership in August 2017. This partnership has been designed to deliver significant advantages to both their learners.
