The high standards and hard work ethic set by Casey Hanson have put him on a successful path for the future. Such have been the attainment levels achieved by Casey during his apprenticeship at mobility equipment and vehicle specialist Brook Miller Mobility, he was offered a permanent role at the Elland-based business which he has accepted.
“The highlight of my apprenticeship has been the people I have met within the workplace,” says Casey. “Everybody is full of life and we all get along like a large family.”
Casey began his apprenticeship in January 2018 and completed it 12 months later. He worked through his apprenticeship as a warehouse operative at Brook Miller Mobility while receiving support and training from Calderdale College.
He cites key benefits of his apprenticeship as gaining experience communicating with different types of people, building personal confidence and building knowledge around how businesses operate.
Casey added: “The support from Calderdale College has been excellent. I didn’t struggle at all throughout the course as I had great support from my tutor John Jones and the wider College team.
“If I was struggling on certain topics, they were always explained thoroughly and concisely so I could understand them properly.
“I would like to thank John for his hard work in helping me throughout the course. I have taken on board a lot of important information to help me progress in my career and I am extremely thankful for that.”
John Jones, Manufacturing Work Based Learning at Calderdale College, said Casey had shown stand out ability and knowledge throughout his apprenticeship and supporting college course.
“Casey has been willing and supportive in all the actions and targets that have been set,” says John.
“He has now started a course working towards a degree at open university in computer applications while also being given a permanent position at Brook Miller Mobility.”
Casey concludes: “I am enjoying my time at Brook Miller Mobility. My apprenticeship has been a real springboard and I am excited about the future. My aspiration is to be a programmer, teaching myself programming whilst studying further.”
