This qualification is an introduction to teaching in the further education and skills sector.

Course Info
This course gives an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships involved in education and training; how to plan and deliver inclusive teaching/training sessions and how to assess and give constructive feedback.
It is aimed at candidates who: would like an introduction to teaching; are in a teaching/training role but do not have a formal qualification; are considering a change in career.
You will work towards achieving 3 units:
- Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
- Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
There is no teaching practice requirement so you can complete the qualification if you are not in a teaching role.
The qualification is suitable for: Teachers in Further Education; Teachers in Adult and Community Education; Teachers in Work Based Learning and the Voluntary Sector; Technicians and Support Staff in Further and Adult Education; Trainers in Commerce, Industry, the Public Sector, the Uniformed Services or HM Forces.
To achieve the qualification candidates must successfully complete 3 theoretical assignments and 1 practical assignment.
Candidates are required to deliver a minimum of one 30 minutes micro teaching session.
In-service candidates can be observed in one of their teaching sessions, which must be no more than 20 minutes.
Teaching
A wide range of learning and teaching strategies are used including group activities, reflective diaries and blogs, student presentations, peer assessment, group discussions and research tasks.
The units are taught holistically so that you gain an overview of the different aspects of the teaching role.
Entry Requirements & Interview Process
You need to demonstrate the capacity to produce written work at Level 3.
This will be established through an individual interview and discussion about prior experience/qualifications.
