Course Overview

This qualification offers candidates the opportunity to gain a fundamental understanding of double entry book-keeping and accounting.

Candidates will learn the day to day functioning of the accounting system of any business. The course underpins future studies in accounting.

Within the context of a sole trader, you will:

  • Learn to check and process documents
  • Carry out routine book-keeping processes
  • Develop thorough knowledge of book-keeping principles

You will acquire the skills and experience to run the accounting function for a small business and to progress your accounting career.

The course leads to a qualification from City and Guilds – the highly respected examination body which is recognised and valued by employers across the world.

This course typically achieves a high success rate – exam results are consistently excellent. Students are therefore able to develop their skills for career progression, success in the workplace and enhanced employer opportunities.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

There are no formal entry requirements but an interest in the subject area would be an advantage.

All students will be interviewed to ascertain that they have a good standard of English, Literacy and Numeracy.

There is no aptitude test though accuracy, neatness and an attention to detail are paramount to success on this programme.

Progression

Successful learners can progress onto the Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping or the Computerised Accounts Level 1.

Assessment Methods

Book-keeping Level 1 is assessed by an externally set and marked City and Guilds examination.

The exam is 1 hour long.

Course Fees

£380.60 (FCR)

The fee quoted is for guidance only and will be confirmed at enrolment.

Full Cost Recovery Courses for students aged 19+ do not attract any funding and therefore the full cost of the fees are payable by the student irrespective of their circumstances.
