City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Engineering
This course is ideal for learners wanting to continue to build on skills gained at Level 1.
As with the Level 1, it offers a practical, hands on learning experience that will lead to a nationality recognised qualification. Students will gain not only practical experience, but a real understanding of engineering as an industry.
Students will develop a wide range of knowledge and skills that will support progression into employment, apprenticeships of higher level learning.
You will develop your ability to work with hands on powered tools. You will learn to weld different joints so that you will be able to apply your skills to different tasks.
You will develop much more advanced engineering skills such as pattern development and positional welding all of which are highly desirable in the engineering workplace.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in outdoor, enrichment and sporting activities along with a wide range of cross college activities.
In addition to learning the practical aspects of different welding, cutting and fabrication techniques you will be taught how to work safely and effectively.

Entry Requirements & Interview Process
Ideally you will have Grade C or Grade 4 or above in Maths and English as well as an appropriate Level 1 qualification in engineering.
At the start of your course we would expect you to complete an initial assessment to determine your current level of Maths and English, this will help us to ensure that you are on the course at the right level for you.
It also helps us to plan your programme and to make sure that the right support is in place for you.
