Course Overview

The NCFE Level 2 Certificate/Diploma in Sport provides learners with the knowledge, skills and practical experience needed to progress within the sport and active leisure sector. This course allows learners to specialise through pathways such as sport and fitness, outdoor activities, coaching or working in the sport industry.

Learners develop an understanding of fitness, performance, health and participation, alongside key employability skills such as teamwork, communication and leadership. Practical sessions are combined with theory to support real-world application. The qualification is designed to support progression to Level 3 study, apprenticeships or entry-level roles within the sport sector, while building confidence and preparing learners for further training or employment.

  • Participating in Sport
  • Preparing to work in the sport and leisure industry
  • Physical fitness and injuries in sport
  • Planning and running a sports event
  • Leading or delivering an activity session
  • Sport and society anatomy and physiology for exercise

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

Applicants are required to have 5 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, including Maths and English. Applicants will take part in an Admissions interview.

Progression

Following this course, students may progress onto the NCFE Level 3 Sport qualification, apprenticeships in the sport, coaching or fitness industry, further education or training within the sport sector, or entry-level roles.

Assessment Methods

During the course you will be assessed through a portfolio of evidence (coursework-based), practical assessments and observations, written assignments, reports and projects, presentations and professional discussions, witness statements and peer assessments.
