Course Overview

This is a work-based learning option that offers a hands-on opportunity to try out different job roles and work with a teacher and job coach to develop work skills and apply them in a real work situation.

There are no qualifications attached to Project SEARCH as the focus of the course is to help people into employment.

Calderdale Royal Hospital is involved in employment opportunities for our interns, leading to roles such as Admin Assistant, Housekeeper, and Engagement Support Worker.

All learning takes place at the hospital with a qualified Course Leader and a Job Coach supporting the teaching and skills development.

Start Date

September 2025

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

You will be required to attend an assessment day and interview with the Course Leader and Job Coach. During the interview, you will have the opportunity to learn about the Study Programme and ask any questions you may have.

You will also need to provide evidence of previous learning and a copy of your Education, Health, and Care Plan.

Additional Assessment for Learning will take place during the two-week Summer School induction to ensure that students are on the correct level suitable for their skills, ability, and previous learning.

Progression

Upon completion of a supported internship, individuals have several progression opportunities to consider. These may include:

Securing Employment: Upon completion of a supported internship, individuals have the opportunity to secure paid employment. Additionally, they may have the option to receive ongoing support from a job coach, who can provide guidance and assistance as needed to ensure a smooth transition and continued success in their new role. This combination of employment and the availability of a job coach offers continued support for professional growth and development.

Apprenticeships: Some individuals may choose to pursue apprenticeships in a related field. Apprenticeships offer a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction, allowing individuals to continue their learning while gaining practical work experience.
