Entry Requirements: GCSE grade 3/D in Maths, English & Science and interview and short assessment
GCSE Biology is the study of living organisms and their structure, life-cycles, adaptations and environment.
- Cell biology
- Infection and response
- Homeostasis and response
- Inheritance, variation and evolution
A formal assessment will be two 1 hour 45 minute exams, covering the following:
- Exam 1 – Cell biology, organisation, infection & response, bioenergetics
- Exam 2 – Homeostasis, inheritance, variation & evolution, ecology
There will also be 10 compulsory practicals throughout the duration of the course.

Teaching styes vary from lecture to group work, to ICT based research to practical investigations. Tasks are set of support and reinforce the subject material covered in the sessions. It is expected that these tasks are completed in the learner’s own time.
