Course Overview

A great next step towards your career in the healthcare industry.

This course will focus on a selection of units that cover a variety of topics relating to health and social care. This qualification is made up of units each representing a small step of learning.

The mandatory units will cover a wide range of topics to give you a broad understanding of working within health and social care. The course provides learners with the knowledge and understanding essential to the health and social care sector, supporting progression to further learning or the workplace.

Some of the mandatory units covered may include:

  • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
  • Human growth and development
  • Safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Communication in health and social care
  • Working in health and social care

There are also optional units which may include:

  • Nutrition for health and social care
  • Creative activities in health and social care
  • Health and well being

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

Applicants are required to have 4 GCSEs at Grade 3 or above, with either Maths or English at Grade 4 or above.

You will be invited to a face-to-face interview with a tutor to discuss suitability of the course.

Progression

Upon achievement of this qualification, learners will be able to progress onto further learning or to employment within the health and social care sector.

There is a wide variety of progression available to students which could lead them onto T Level to Health. Level 3 Adult Care, or Level 2 Foundation in Health.

After successfully completing the course, you may progress onto a career as a home care worker or support worker.

Assessment Methods

This qualification is assessed on a grading system. The qualification is graded A*-D.

Learners must achieve a pass grade for the unit assessments for the 5 mandatory units and 2 optional units.

Assessment occurs via a wide range of activities including written assignments, individual and group presentations, practical observations and a portfolio of evidence.
