Course Overview

The Level 3 BTEC Esports course is more than just gaming. It encompasses business, marketing, event management, customer engagement, content creation, branding, coaching and wellbeing. The 15 module coursework only programme provides students with 3 A-Levels in a variety of industries to explore, allowing students to go where they would like to go.

Within the course, you will learn key life skills which prepare you for your next steps across all the following modules:

Year 1 (Business, Health, Media and Content Creation)

  • Introduction to Esports
  • Esports skills, strategies and analysis
  • Enterprise and entrepreneurship in the Esports industry
  • Health, wellbeing and fitness for Esports players
  • Live-streamed broadcasting
  • Producing an Esports brand
  • Video production

Year 2 (Events, Wellbeing, Business, Marketing and Social Media Management)

  • Ethical and current issues in Esports
  • Psychology for Esports performance
  • Customer immersion experiences
  • Esports events
  • Nutrition for Esports performance
  • Shoutcasting
  • Esports coaching
  • Business applications of Esports in social media

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

This is an advanced course suitable for those with at least 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, to include English or a relevant Level 2 qualification such as BTEC First Diploma, GNVQ Intermediate, NVQ Level 2 or equivalent/relevant work experience.  

Applicants will be invited to an interview with the course leader.

Applicants without the stated entry requirements may still have their application considered. These will be evaluated on individual merit and interviewing staff may introduce an assessment into the interview process to assess applicants’ current level of ability in relation to the course applied for. Progression

Previous students have been successful in applying for universities for event management, business and marketing. Students can apply for most degrees at universities for courses that have been covered within the Esports course.
