Course Overview

The music industry is one of the most exciting yet fast-moving work environments. How will AI change the role of music creatives? What jobs will be created or lost? Music Industry Skills prepares learners to enter this dynamic world, where technology, talent, passion, and creativity collide to shape the future.

From composing for DAWs to DJing, podcast production, and film scoring, you’ll explore diverse music related disciplines while gaining a head start in mastering equipment typically beyond the reach of most beginners.

You’ll also develop transferable industry skills like self-promotion, communication, and teamwork, opening doors to careers in sound engineering, music production, and beyond.

During this course you will become well equipped in all aspects of:

  • Industry standard software, Logic Pro X Guitars
  • Syntheziers
  • Drum machines
  • Audient 4816 16 mixing console
  • Learn to produce and promote your own music, podcast or radio show to a professional standard

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

4 GCSEs at Grade D or Grade 3 or above or a relevant Level 1 Qualification such as NCFE Contemporary Music Practice or equivalent.

Applications from learners without the necessary entry requirements will be considered on the basis of them providing sufficient evidence of existing music learning or creation. A basic level of IT skills is essential as the course requires a lot of computer work.

All candidates will be invited to an interview with Course Leader/Tutor. Invitees will be required to show enthusiasm to learn and a commitment to the course.

Progression

Successful candidates may wish to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology or Level 3 Diploma in Music Performance which will also enable them to continue to study a music related subject at University level.

Assessment Methods

Throughout the course students will be assessed through continuous practical and academic assessments.
