Course Overview

This qualification aims to develop the knowledge and skills required when providing positive care for people with dementia and their families. This qualification is aligned to the National Dementia Strategy.

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to work in social care in either local authority or private care environments. It is also suitable for qualified practitioners who have not covered dementia care in previous qualifications.

You will learn how to:

  • Understand Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Dementia Care
  • The Person-Centred Approach to the Care and Support of Individuals with Dementia
  • Dementia Awareness
  • Understand the Factors That Can Influence Communication and Interaction with Individuals Who Have Dementia

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

No specific prior learning requirements – students might find it useful to have studied Health and Social Care at Level 2. Interview process to evaluate applicants and discuss pathway.

Progression

This qualification does not qualify you to work in social care settings however, it does support you working towards employment and/or to aid career development if you are a social care qualified practitioner.
