Course Overview

This course is designed for those who wish to learn the art of barbering and enable them to work in this ever-increasing industry.

You will develop specialist barbering skills such as shampoo and conditioning, cutting men’s hair, and trimming facial hair. You’ll also strengthen your customer service and communication skills.

Students will complete practical work and create a professional portfolio. During the course you will learn, practice and perform on paying clients a variety of barbering services whilst working towards industry services.

All learners have the opportunity to engage in one week’s work experience and are encouraged to gain more.

  • Creating an image based on fashion trends and client requests
  • Shampoo and conditioning
  • Cutting men’s hair

Entry Requirements & Interview Process

Applicants to this course are required to obtain 4 GCSEs grade D/3 or above to include English and Maths.

All applicants will be required to attend an interview plus a Pre-Induction Day which will include dexterity, literacy and numeracy. Students will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm, commitment and good communication skills.

Progression

After successfully completing this course, students may progress onto a Level 3 qualification, an apprenticeship or relevant employment.

Career Opportunities:
Senior Barber, Salon Manager, Work in Theatre/TV/Film.

Assessment Methods

Students will be assessed through observations of practical ability, online theory exams and completion of a portfolio.
