Shaping the future: why a career in Early Years is one of the most rewarding careers

The Early Years sector is one of the most important, yet often overlooked, areas of education. Working with babies, toddlers and young children during the early stages of their development is a rewarding experience, despite some of the current challenges in the sector.
At Calderdale College, we offer a range of Early Years courses, including the T Level in Education and Early Years, which gives our students the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to make a real difference.
So why choose a career in Early Years?
You can make a lifelong impact
Early childhood education helps lay the foundation for everything a child will go on to achieve. From supporting with first words, to nurturing emotional development, you will play a vital role in shaping their future.
Every day is different
No two days are ever the same! Whether you’re exploring nature, helping a child overcome a new challenge or teaching a group a new nursery rhyme, the variety keeps the role exciting and fulfilling.
Build meaningful relationships
Working closely with children and their families means you’ll build strong bonds and a sense of trust. It’s a rewarding feeling seeing a young person in your care make huge progress with their development.
Career progression
The sector is constantly evolving, with more focus on quality education, child development and mental health support, there’s lots of opportunities for career growth. From practitioner roles to management and even teaching or specialist support roles, there’s a variety of options.
Study a T Level
T Levels are a new qualification designed by the Government in collaboration with employers to meet the needs of the industry. Our T Level in Education and Early Years combines both classroom learning with real industry placements, so you’ll complete your course with the skills you need for employment, higher education or an apprenticeship.
