Working with The Piece Hall to create apprenticeship opportunities

Apprentices are fantastic for bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm into a workplace. Knowing how beneficial apprenticeships can be, CEO of The Piece Hall, Nicky Chance-Thompson DL, wanted to prioritise introducing them into the business after the iconic landmark reopened following refurbishment in 2017.

To kickstart its hunt for apprentices, The Piece Hall got in touch with Calderdale College and we were able to guide them through the entire process, from creating job descriptions to recruiting the best talent. Since then, The Piece Hall has now seen multiple apprentices through their placements, with plans to introduce more very soon.

We caught up with the team there to find out more about their decision to hire apprentices, as well as hear  about the positive benefits that having apprentices has brought to the business.

The Collaborative Apprenticeships project is managed by the West Yorkshire Consortium of Colleges (WYCC) and funded by the European Social Fund (ESF). Calderdale College is supporting the delivery of the project in partnership with local employers and training providers. Businesses can take advantage of the funding until September 2023.
